c1840 

Lymm Morris Dancers in a painting which is now in York museum.

1880's 

Lymm and Statham Rushcart Processions die out.

1890 

Lymm Morris Dancers led by Thomas "Dossey" Brooks (d 1897 aged 56)

Oughtrington Morris Dancers led by Thomas Holt.

1900's

Only the Oughtrington Dancers exist led by John Robert (Bob) Downward.

1911 

Statham May Queen Festival established by Fred Lockyer of The Star.

1911 -1916

No record of Morris dancing at Statham Festivals in the local paper

1912 

Ned Rowles is the leader of the Lymm Morris Dancers.

The Morris Dancers did not reform after the 1st World War.

1917 - 1919 

Garland & Maypole dancing mentioned in the Guardian.

1919

 'Handkerchief' dancing is mentioned in the Warrington Guardian.

1920 - 1925 

Statham Boys Morris Dancers taught the "Old Dance" by Ned Rowles performed at the Statham Whit Monday Festival.

1926 

Local boys trained by Mr. Phillips & Mr. McCue danced the Morris dance at Statham Festival.

1927 

'The Morris dancers' performed. No other information in the local paper.

1928 

Statham Morris Dancers performed at the Whit Monday Festival.
The troupe consisted of boys and girls. Bill and Alice Higgins danced.

1929 

Statham dancers were all girls this year and Alice Higgins again danced.

Late 1920's 

Heatley Boys Morris Dancers taught by a 'Mrs. Hankey'.

Lymm May Queen Acrobatic Dancers taught by an 'Arthur Sutton'.

1929 

Statham Morris troupe danced on Whit Monday - this time all girls.

1930 

'Morris dancers in green and orange' performed. No other information.

Jack Gilbert is overheard by his headmaster reciting some odd bits of
rhyming dialogue and the Lymm Soulcaking Play (Jack had learned it all
from his Granddad!) is revived and performed by the school children.

1931 

The Statham Morris Dancers performed on Whit Monday. They were all
boys and led by Arthur Higgins.

1932 

Lymm May Queen Acrobatic troupe and Heatley & Lymm dancing troupe both performed at Statham on Whit Monday. There were dancing competitions.

1933 

Statham troupe of morris dancers & Lymm May Queen Acrobatic troupe danced at Statham.

1934 

The Lymmtonians troupe danced at the Statham Whit Monday Festival, trained by Mrs. Bradburn.

1935 

The Lymmtonians again danced at Statham May Queen celebrations.

1936 

The Lymmtonians & Clog dancers from Partington performed.

1937 

No local Morris dancers are mentioned in the Warrington Guardian but Irlam Morris dancing troupe performed at the Statham Festival.

1938 

Dancers from Altrincham & a 'cabaret' troupe from Knutsford danced at Statham May Queen Festival. Again no record of a local troupe.

1938 

Maud Karpeles visited only the surviving members of the 1900 team:
John "Downwood", his brother-in-law John Wilkinson the musician,
Abraham Wilson and Charles Simpson, to note down the old dance.

1939 

Gaskell prize troupe of dancers performed at Statham.

1946 

Broomedge Morris Dancers, later to become the Broomedge Blue Streamers troupe formed and trained by Alice Walker (nee Higgins) and later run by her brother Bill Higgins.
The Lymmtonians (and The Lymmtoniettes) reformed and run by Mrs. Annie Higham.
The Lymm Embassy Morris Dancers and Entertainers were formed by Mrs. Clare Shaw.

1947 

May Queen celebrations re-started by Ted Edwards in Statham and Lymm (now combined) but organisation too late for Whitsuntide, so held in the Autumn! An invented revival of the old dance is performed using country dance figures. Edith Russell (nee Leather) was 'Maid Marian'.
Garland dances were performed with decorated hooped garlands.

1948 

18 troupes took part in Morris & Open dancing competitions at the Lymm May Queen festival. Lymm Embassy Morris Dancers performed.

1950 

The Pamela Stars formed by Pamela Carter's (nee Beddows) father.
Open Morris & Entertainers competitions became a regular feature of the Lymm May Queen celebrations.

1951 

Rushbearing cart was revived at the May Queen event - although at the wrong time of the year. (Rushbearing traditionally carried out in August!)

1952 

Lymm Embassy won the Entertainers trophy at the Lymm May Queen. 
The Open Morris competition was won by Mold Stars.

1953 

17 troupes took part. Morris dancing competitions won by Merry Millers Seniors. Lymm Embassy Acrobats won the Entertainers section.

1954 

Morris dancing competition was won by the Pamela Stars. Broomedge Morris Dancers were third.

1955 

Broomedge tied for 2nd place in the Entertainers section with 'Cheshire'.

1959/60&61 

Broomedge won the Entertainers Cup at Lymm May Queen.

1966 

Lymmdale Entertainers formed by Fran Hall (nee Matulko).

1972 

Monday 14th August Lymm Rushbearing procession revived by Elvert Glyn Williams and maintained by Mr. Chris Limb from 1976.

1973 

Thelwall Morris Men formed.

1978 

Lymmdale ceased to be and The Sherenades formed by Pauline Doorbar.

1980 

The Lymm/Statham dance revived and danced by Thelwall Morris Men.
