1923 Statham Boys Team
On Saturday June 21st 1947 The Warrington Guardian reports that a public meeting was held on Wednesday to discuss the revival of the Statham/Lymm May Queen Festival after the war.
It was agreed to hold a Rose Queen Festival within the year in spite of the lateness of the decision and that maybe this could be organised for September. A committee was to be convened to deal with the proposals by Mrs. Edwards of Booth's Hill, Mrs. Ratcliffe of Lymm, Mrs. Holt of Heatley and Mrs. Smith of Statham.
No reference was found in the newspaper to the revival taking place in 1947.
Ted Edwards and his wife had been mainly responsible for the re-establishing of the May Queen Celebrations at Statham after the 2nd World War (in 1947/1948).
Edith Russell (nee Leather) had danced a revival of the old morris dance as danced by the male teams and by the Statham Lads in the 20's.

Edith had danced as the 'fool' or the 'Maid Marian' as they called her. She said that they could not get anyone to show them the dance so they put some country dance figures together in imitation of it. This may have been in 1947 or 1948.
After World War II the May Queen celebrations of Statham and Lymm are combined and take place on the Saturday of the Whit weekend.
